Strong Texas Roots

CMC Steel Texas was founded in 1947 by Marvin Selig. With a $2,000 loan and the purchase of 1-1/2 acres of farm land, he began construction of what would become CMC Steel Texas.

Seguin was an ideal location. The area had no regionally established mills, and the business climate was solid. It also offered an abundance of natural resources, utilities, and transportation links to major markets. Plus, the community work ethic was strong.

Initially, CMC Steel Texas's sole product was reinforcing bars for concrete structures, which were created from recycled railroad rails. The first steel produced by CMC Steel Texas was rolled in 1949. Thanks to the loyal support of our clients and stockholders - and the unyielding dedication of our work force - we've been running continuously ever since.

In more than five decades since our first run, CMC Steel Texas has grown exponentially. Today, capable of producing over 750,000 tons of steel per year, in a wide assortment of sections, and grades CMC Steel Texas is a leading supplier to the construction, fabrication, and manufacturing industries in the Southwest.

It all started with one man. But our decades of success have been built on the shoulders of hundreds of men and women, dedicated to the art and science of steel making. Together, we've broken through barriers, overcome adversity and continuously kept our heads high and our eyes focused on the future.

CMC Steel Texas is more than a company. We're a family of individuals working toward a single goal: to get it right for you.
