Maintenance:Technical Assistant Trainee Program (5088)

Position Overview

This is an exciting leadership program with a Fortune 500 company! The Maintenance TA will experience an in-depth program with the maintenance department at CMC Steel Arizona state of the art micromill utilizing groundbreaking technology within the steel manufacturing industry. This program is designed to prepare, train, and promote employees into the various areas of leadership within CMC. This position will focus primarily on steel making operations, technical training and leading employees. Successful candidates will train in various departments within the CMC core business to include mechanical, electrical, high power, water treatment, automation, drives, engineering, and many other exciting areas within a steel making facility.

CMC has developed this training program to be hands on and not a desktop training program. Selected candidates will be required to perform many of the duties within our facilities. This may include outside work in hot/cold/wet conditions, working at heights and other unique situations. While we do not see our candidates in the program as long term laborers or operators, we feel it is important and necessary for our leaders to have a good understanding of the work we do and how challenging it may be.

Candidate may be required to travel during the training period and be willing to relocate to other CMC facilities upon completion of training program. The training program will exceed 1 year but usually not more than 2 years.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Under direction of management, work on projects, issues that arise, and other tasks as assigned
• Work in roles within maintenance to learn processes and procedures
• Attend monthly meeting with assigned Director/Business Partner to measure progress and obtain feedback
• Write progress reports on a monthly basis
• Attend, participate and facilitate meetings when asked
• May work in short-term assignment roles (fill in for vacations, vacancies, and other as required by the business)
• Learn equipment and processes, in the plant, from start to finish
• Ability to work flexible hours and available upon the needs of the business. This will include rotating shifts, nights, and/or weekends.

Education Requirements

Associates Degree or 2-year Technical/Trade School, OR relevant previous military experience
