Senior Accounting Analyst (5124)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Senior Analyst to provide technical accounting, consolidations and internal and external reporting support to the Company, under the direction of the Senior Manager, Technical Accounting and Consolidations. This person will have high visibility from working with all levels and functions of the organization to support the implementation of new accounting pronouncements, reporting and other special projects. This role provides a great opportunity to gain a wide breadth of technical experience. You will gain exposure to our senior leadership team and have the ability to fully learn the business.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

The individual in this position will:
• Research the accounting for complex transactions and implement conclusions
• Partner with Finance, Accounting, Legal and Operations on key technical accounting issues
• Prepare clear and organized documentation, including technical accounting memos to support the Company’s conclusions
• Analyze the consolidated financial statements of the Company
• Assist in preparing the Company's quarterly and annual SEC filings
• Keep current on new and upcoming accounting standards
• Assist in the research, evaluation and implementation of new accounting pronouncements
• Assist in updating and maintaining accounting policies for consistency and compliance with US GAAP and SEC requirements
• Support the implementation of special projects, such as lease accounting (ASC 842)
• Assist with other activities as needed, such as:
o Goodwill and long-lived asset impairment testing
o Complex debt structures
o Purchase accounting
o Pro forma financial statements
• Partner with all levels of the internal and external audit teams
• Recommend and implement process improvements

Experience and Skill Requirements

• CPA with 3-5 years of experience with a public accounting firm, with exposure to SEC filers and technical accounting research
• Knowledge of US GAAP, combined with the ability to research complex accounting issues
• Experience with complex financial analysis and review
• Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to communicate complex issues to a wide variety of audiences, including executive leadership
• SAP, BPC and Workiva, experience is a plus, but not required
• Energetic, naturally inquisitive and proactive individual capable of succeeding with minimal supervision
• Flexibility to work outside normal business hours to meet project deadlines

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business required, Master's preferred
