Position Overview

The CMC Accounting/Finance internship program located at CMC Steel Tennessee offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience working for a global organization. You'll work with an experienced team of CMC financial professionals and receive guidance from one of CMC's Vice Presidents. The internship will provide hands-on experience in order to gain familiarity with basic industry concepts, accounting rules and routines, and CMC's advanced accounting systems. Additional projects and tasks will be assigned as you progress during the internship.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Assist in projects/initiatives to improve existing processes and accounting systems
  • Assist with account reconciliations, journal entry preparation, variance analysis, and data entry
  • Develop and maintain productive working relationships with other finance professionals
  • Contribute ideas and opinions to your team
  • Understand how generally accepted accounting principles and practices are integrated into the day-to-day business environment
  • Analyze and prepare financial and statistical reports

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Education Requirements
  • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university program
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Minimum Cumulative 3.0 GPA
