Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is searching for Truck Drivers to drive for our Recycling location in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This individual will provide exceptional customer service in a timely, professional and courteous manner. Truck Drivers are responsible for the delivery of products to customers, contractors, and job sites while adhering to all company, state and federal regulations. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday - Friday 7 AM - 4 PM, with some Saturdays. The right individual will be flexible as working hours may extend beyond regular business hours. This is a local driving position which will allow you to be home every night!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Loading of the truck; to include Fasten chains across the trailer to secure the product (chains weighing 30-45 lbs.), tarp loads on trailers (tarps weighing 30-65 lbs.), dropping and hooking trailers.
• Inspect vehicles(s) with a DOT, maintenance, and safety checklist for any safety or operational defects.
• Ensure vehicle is properly loaded and secured for delivery in a safe and timely manner.
• Work with dispatch, sales, and customers to communicate issues with loads and delivery time.
• Accurately complete corresponding delivery paperwork.
• Provide exceptional customer service to CMC customers.
• Comply with both CMC Safety polices and DOT procedures/regulations at all times.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL.
• Knowledge of DOT requirements and regulations.
• 1+ year experience in tractor trailer over the road driving.
o No on-road preventable accidents during the past 3 years.
o No serious traffic violations within the last 3 years, for example, careless/reckless driving, following too close and improper/erratic lane change.
• Adaptable to change with a flexible Schedule or working a schedule of 70 hours in 8 days.
• Driving is a combination of good hearing, eyesight, flexibility, range of motion, e-action times, depth perception, and sitting for long periods of time.
• Raise and lower Dollie legs on trailer (circular turning motion with arms to turn gearing to raise and lower trailer legs).
• Must be able to use feet to clutch, brake, and accelerate vehicle and hands to steer, shift transmission, sound horn, operate instruments on dash while rotating upper body and neck area to look right and left, and to check mirrors.
• Must be able to climb into and down from cab of truck and up or down from catwalk and/or deck of trailer.
• Must be able to carry or drag load securement chains, throw chains across the width of a trailer to secure the product, and on the bed of a trailer or in an overhead rack (rack is approximately 10 feet off the ground)
• Must be able to tighten chains by pulling down on the load locking boomer (approximately 100-125 pounds of force required)
• Must be able to carry, unfold, fold, and tarp loads on trailers – which requires climbing on the trailers and over the product being covered.
• Must be able to perform physical activities including pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, kneeling, and balancing.
• Must be able to lift to 25 pounds
• Must be able to sit for long periods of time
• Must be able to set up a sideboard kit around the perimeter of the trailer floor. Putting in place 16 – 4 feet x 8 feet sheets of plywood weighing approximately 50 pounds each and 40 metal stakes weighing approximately 15-20 pounds each. Performing this task in 30 minutes.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED preferred.
