Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company Steel Arkansas in Magnolia, Arkansas, is currently seeking an Electrician to join our team! This position requires the ability to troubleshoot, test, repair, install and calibrate electrical and electronic equipment on site.

This position works a 12-hour rotating shift schedule, which involves rotation between day and night shifts and requires some overtime. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this is the job for you.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Conducts tests and measurements of AC/DC utilities and control circuits.
• Interprets electrical/electronic schematics and technical manuals.
• Understands industrial controls, 3-phase power, PLCs, VFDs, distribution switchgear, and instrumentation.
• Works with various hand tools and electrical test equipment.
• Demonstrates satisfactory troubleshooting skills.
• Communicates effectively with appropriate departments/individuals.
• Diagnoses malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components using test equipment, hand tools and personal knowledge to determine root cause.
• Performs necessary maintenance tasks including but not limited to troubleshooting, repairing or replacing defective and damaged parts, adjustments and calibration procedures, assemble, install, test and execute preventative maintenance tasks on various forms of manufacturing equipment using hand and power tools.
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.
• Push and pull up to 90 lbs. and carry 50 lbs.

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Five years of industrial maintenance experience.
• Must have thorough understanding of electrical safe work practices and NFPA 70E requirements
• Must have experience with and the ability to demonstrate electrical and mechanical maintenance principles, concepts, and troubleshooting techniques including a working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• AC/DC motor troubleshooting experience required.
• Electrical controls maintenance and repair proficiency.
• Siemens and/or other PLC troubleshooting experience preferred.
• Ability to think logically, analytically and solve problems.
• Strong multitasking abilities.
• Ability to function in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to work with exposure to inside and outside temperatures, loud noise, heights, and confined spaces.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and work in heights for extended periods of time.
• Ability to work rotating (day/night) 12 hour shifts is required.

Education Requirements

• High school or GED required.
• College or technical trade education preferred.
