Civil Engineer - Tilt Up (4480)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is searching for a Civil Engineer with experience in Tilt-up Engineer. This individual reviews and checks tilt-up engineering lifting and bracing details and panel construction shop drawings for accuracy and completeness. This role will occasionally perform lifting and bracing engineering design and interface with customers and salesmen as required to coordinate project priorities and schedules. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate who is interested in gaining more in-depth knowledge, skills, and abilities in Engineering while learning more about Construction Industry.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Review, check, and correct shop drawings to include Tilt Up and Lifting and bracing drawings.
  • Occasionally perform lifting and bracing engineering design.
  • Establish and maintain standard procedures for shop drawing details.
  • Calculate bracing loads and capacity of walls, floors, and deadmen to resist them.
  • Calculate reinforced concrete capacity to resist applied stresses from erection of tilt-up panels.
  • Interface with customers and salesmen as required to coordinate project priorities and schedule.
  • Perform miscellaneous engineering functions as the need arises.
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Word, Excel and familiar with Access
  • Able to Read Architectural and Structural drawings and specifications
  • Good communications skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving ability
Education Requirements

Graduate Civil engineer with emphasis on Statics, Mechanics of Materials, and Reinforced Concrete Design. EIT or PE preferred.
