Equipment Operator (5302)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking an Equipment Operator for our Augusta, GA Recycling yard.  This position will assist in moving and processing material through the yard.  

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Operate a forklift or skid steer on a daily basis to move metals to the appropriate location in the NF warehouse
  • Cross train on other pieces of equipment 
  • Sort materials as they are brought in 
  • Prepare equipment by conducting operator inspections; performing preventive maintenance checks.
  • Accomplish work by operating equipment; observing varying conditions; adjusting equipment controls.
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • 1-2 yrs. experience operating equipment
  • Ability to use effective listening skills to identify important information and to engage internal and external customers.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must meet CMC attendance standards.
  • Ability to interact with coworkers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl and reach.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidays.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
