Scale Operator (5565)

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Scale Operator to join our CMC Shreveport Recycling Operations. The Scale Operator will learn different facets of Recycling Operations. They will be trained to perform operating sequences to receive and exit vehicles through incoming and outgoing scales in a safe and efficient manner. Successful candidates will have a strong safety mindset and a desire to learn.

This position works an 8 hour shift Monday thru Friday; which may include some overtime to include four (4) hours on Saturday. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this is the job for you!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Identifies, weighs and documents all in-bound and out-bound metal shipments.
• Provides customer service and works with buyers and operational staff to insure material meets CMC specs.
• Maintain accurate record keeping of all documents related to deliveries and shipments.
• Collect and process appropriate documentation in compliance for materials sold.
• Coordinate and process scrap carrier’s information upon pick-up and outbound of scrap.
• Verify all purchases meet federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
• Work with Dispatchers and the Transportation Department to ensure proper CMC recordkeeping requirements for company-owned trucks.
• Collect and maintain all documentation related to scaled loads.
• Regulate flow of all inbound and outbound materials.
• Monitor Radiation Detection equipment.
• General shop cleanup and housekeeping.
• Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges.
• Is organized and shows attention to detail, with a "get it right the first time" mindset.
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Works well with team members or independently; gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.

• Ability to stand for duration of shift.
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in weather temperatures, chemicals, dust, mist, uneven surfaces, loud noises and elevated work areas.

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Minimum 1 year experience as Scale Operator or in a similar role to be familiar with production areas and the associated equipment.
• Minimum 1 year experience working in a Manufacturing/Recycling facility.
• Ability to document, maintain and record procedures for equipment.
• Basic computer skills with Microsoft Office Word and Excel required.
• SAP software experience preferred.
• Must speak and understand English language in verbal communication. Spanish is preferred.
• Must be able to work an 8 hour shift Monday thru Friday; which may include some overtime to include four (4) hours on Saturday.
• Ability to work in extremes in weather temperatures, chemicals, dust, mist, uneven surfaces, loud noises and elevated work areas.
• Ability to use effective listening skills to identify important information and to engage internal and external customers.
• Must have analytical math skills.
• Must be safety oriented.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.
