Ferrous Supervisor (5133)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is looking for a Ferrous Supervisor to join our Recycling team in Dallas, Texas. This person is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations in the ferrous yard including direct supervision of all ferrous employees, making sure all policies and procedures are followed, providing safe working conditions, quality, customer service and cost-effective operations. This position is a hands-on, working supervisory position.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Supervise operators' and schedule equipment activities throughout the work day to meet the demands of the facility
  • Coordinate and conduct training of ferrous yard employees
  • Maintain and schedule maintenance of equipment assigned to ferrous yard
  • Monitor and record proper weighing of material purchased or transferred within the branch
  • Monitor and identify proper placement of ferrous scrap within the yard
  • Arrange and schedule outbound Ferrous truck and rail car shipments 
  • Maintain production reports with Microsoft excel spread sheets and PowerPoint
  • Employee scheduling to include reviewing, correcting, and submitting of weekly time cards in a timely manner
  • Physical ability to lift, stand, and walk the yard
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • General computer skills: email, time keeping software, safety and environmental dashboards
  • Ability to work in various types of weather conditions which include extreme heat and cold
  • Ability to perform heavy manual work to include lifting, standing, and walking the yard
  • 5+ years supervisory experience preferred
  • 2+ years in industrial or construction industries preferred
  • Scrap metal knowledge a plus
Education Requirements
  • HS diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree preferred but not required.
