Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a scale and equipment operator to support CMC Recycling . As part of the CMC team, operators support the initiative of providing strong customer service in a timely, professional and courteous manner. CMC's scale operators are responsible for the accurately entry/identification/pricing of materials purchased while adhering to all company, state and federal regulations. Team members will cross-train and assist in forklift operation when scale is not in use to support location.  This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday 7:30AM – 4:30PM, some overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs. Job site is located in N. Austin with easy access to IH-35.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Must comply with safety procedures and regulations at all times
• First point of contact in the yard - directs customers and deliveries
• Keeps track of ticketed materials, properly identifies vehicles and person, attains required legal documentation of customers
• Assesses weigh materials inbound and outbound into process area, and prices tickets
• Accurate identification of material to assign correct value
• Provide customer service, ensures customers specs and contract requirements are fulfilled
• Accurate record keeping of contract and deliveries.
• Assesses by grade accurate weight of material orders and Issues supplies for visitors and customers entering the yard
• Walk up customer service: driver's license or accurate documentation & back-up for materials sold
• Upon pick-up of scrap outbound: ID the proper carrier to pick up correct materials/container
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Other duties as assigned in general support of the organization

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Forklift experience and certification desired, additional on-site training will be provided
• 1 year experience in either operations and or manufacturing environment
• Prior knowledge of metal identification is a plus

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
