Guide Stand Technician (5260)

Position Overview

We are looking for a Guide Stand Technician to join our team in Durant, OK! The Guide Stand Technician performs preventive maintenance on roll stands, guiding, and other mill equipment. This is an entry level position that works 8 hour day shifts Monday - Friday but may require overtime including some weekends and holidays.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and clean work environment
• Adhere to all CMC Steel Oklahoma safety policies and procedures
• Clean and repair roll stand and guide equipment
• Prepare and organize guides and roll stands for upcoming product rollings
• Maintain and keep accurate inventories of all stand and guide spare parts
• Keep accurate preventive maintenance records for work performed on equipment
• Fabricate mill components/equipment as necessary
• Participate in changeovers and resolving rolling mill upset conditions

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Must have ability to recall specifics, methods and processes and comprehend/apply analyzed procedures.
• Ability to read engineered drawings and prints.
• Withstand exposure to both inside and outside weather conditions.
• Able to perform additional duties as needed.
• Must be willing to work day and night shifts which include weekends and holidays.
• Ability to operate a forklift and/or overhead crane as well as power tools and torches.
• Must understand mechanical equipment.
• Ability to use welding equipment.
• Ability to use standard measuring instruments including tape measures and levels.
• Perform heavy work to include application of 100lbs of force occasionally and/or 50lbs of force frequently and/or 20lbs of force constantly.
• Must be able to follow instructions given by supervisor and/or standard operating procedures.
• Must have basic computer skills.
• Must be responsible, dependable and respectful of co-workers and surroundings.


Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED required.
