Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking an engineer to support the Maintenance Department at our Steel Mill. This position will be responsible for maintaining equipment and production systems to provide dependable equipment to plant operations in an accurate and efficient manner while observing CMC Safety Policies and Procedures.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Interact with crafts persons, supervisors, engineers and operations personnel to integrate equipment and process changes, planning and work execution.
• Provide technical support in the efforts of “continuous improvement’ with regards to plant equipment, process efficiency and plant wide safety.
• Provide critical expertise on maintenance processes to include the management of planned maintenance work, organizing work packages, coordination and facilitation of plant outages, coordination and facilitation of plant projects.
• Support maintenance and operations by providing technical assistance in the scope of engineering, preventative maintenance, predictive maintenance and other facets of reliability engineering.
• Update existing plant and maintenance equipment records and processes, as well as provide technical trouble shooting support to maintenance and operations usually involving our EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) Software or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Develops solutions by designing and modifying standard processes usually involving our EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) Software or CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems).
• Monitors and maintains a comprehensive set of performance metrics for the plant and collaborates with others to maintain, adjust and improve performance.

Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree with relevant work experience, OR
  • Associates Degree from a Technical Trade School plus 2 years of Industrial work experience, OR
  • 10 years of Industrial work experience in the field of Maintenance and Engineering.
  • Practical Knowledge of mechanical applications, including mechanical drives, thermodynamics, heat transfer, materials, and hydraulics.
  • Practical Knowledge of electrical applications, including drives, controls, automation, and electrical components.
  • Practical Knowledge of common industrial processes: welding, assembly, machining, cutting, measuring, piping, alignment, electrical termination, electrical component assembly, fabrication and analysis methods.
  • Be able to read and interpret mechanical and electrical prints and diagrams.
  • Ability to lead a project from design through installation and start up; including associated operational and maintenance training.
  • Ability to use sound and solid judgment in high pressure situations.
  • Comfortable and confident in time management and multitasking skills needed for working under deadlines.
  • Team building and supervisory skills leading project teams and comfortable with supervising technical and non-technical personnel.
Education Requirements
  • Bachelor of Science Degree with relevant work experience, OR

  • 10 years of Industrial work experience in the field of Maintenance and Engineering.
