Mechanic Helper & Sorter (4088)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a mechanic helper/metal sorter to support CMC Recycling in Dallas, Texas. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday 7:30AM – 4:30PM. The right individual will be flexible as overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Takes charge of his as well as other employee’s safety.
  • Assists in removal of defective parts by dismantling devices; using hand and power tools;
  • Conserves maintenance resources by efficiently using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Assists in preparing mechanical maintenance reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Basic electrical knowledge preferred.
  • Experience with welding, cutting, fabrication and equipment maintenance preferred.
  • Must possess a strong focus on Safety and demonstrate prior safety knowledge.
  • Ability to deal with uncertainty and work under supervision.
  • Must have good communication skills and basic math skills.
  • Must possess experience working with power tools.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time required.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and customers in a positive manner required.
  • Ability to follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required.
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends.
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
