Maintenance Mechanic (4975)

Position Overview

The central purpose of the maintenance mechanic is to perform a variety of maintenance and repair functions at the level of an ordinary skilled mechanic in one or more of the crafts or trades. This employee is capable of performing the duties in his craft or trade without supervision and has sufficient working knowledge of all maintenance crafts and trades to perform these duties with a minimum of supervision.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Assist in maintenance activities with the goal of achieving increased production
• Perform maintenance, while maintaining the company’s safety standards and limiting production down-time
• Respond to all maintenance/safety issues as requested by the maintenance supervisor
• Completes tasks on time producing quality work which is neat and professional in appearance.
• Responds to production problems quickly.
• Troubleshoot equipment problems and perform immediate repairs and preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Assist in the overhaul and installation of new equipment.
• Perform facility maintenance and maintain clean and safe work area.
• Generate and complete work orders as assigned.


Experience and Skill Requirements

Competence in this role comes from a strong knowledge of all machinery within the plant, including but not limited to, the furnace, the quench, the ram, the crane, and the induction line in order to perform maintenance on each. In addition, a strong understanding of company policy and standards in regard to safety and the People Program is necessary. Competency in this role requires the capability of fabricating and modifying parts as required for use in repairs and managing the repair of any equipment in use at CMC Impact Metals.

 Required computer skills and program knowledge would be listed here.
Skills required include strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to react quickly to solve problems. A demonstrated mechanical aptitude and the desire to complete on-going continuous training is essential. This role requires the ability to work and to complete maintenance tasks independently through understanding instruction in both oral and written form
