Maintenance Mechanic (5277)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to maintain mechanical equipment and systems to provide dependable, reliable equipment to plant operations. This person will be responsible performing equipment inspections, repairs and troubleshoot problems in an accurate and efficient manner while observing all applicable CMC safety policies and procedures. This person will perform preventive maintenance on equipment and make repairs or improvements as needed. They will operate mobile equipment including forklift, man lift, scissor lift, and overhead cranes to complete job assignments.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Complete all projects and duties as assigned in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform equipment inspections, repairs, and troubleshoot problems in an accurate and efficient manner
• Maintain mechanical equipment and systems to provide dependable, reliable equipment to plant operations
• Looking beyond the problem at hand to find the root cause(s)
• Estimate man hours and job completion hours

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Ability to work well with all levels of employees in the organization and with outside contacts
• Must be willing to work weekends as business needs dictate
• Safe work history and OSHA training preferred
• Five to ten years maintenance experience within the industrial or construction field
• Ability to operate and maintain heavy equipment
• Knowledge of hydraulic systems
• Ability to work in the outdoor elements
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Extensive welding and torch cutting experience
• Must be mechanically inclined and have an in depth understanding of electrical, hydraulic, and other maintenance needs of a heavy equipment
• Strong knowledge and experience with overhead cranes, diagnostic and repairs
