Forklift Operator (5654)

Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Forklift Operator to join CMC Beaumont Recycling Operations. The Forklift Operator will learn different facets of our Recycling Operation. The Forklift Operator will be trained to load or unload and transport materials throughout the facility. They will also provide dependable support to plant operations in an accurate and efficient manner. Successful candidates will have a strong safety mindset and a desire to learn.

This position works an 8 hour shift Monday thru Friday; which may include some overtime to include four (4) hours on Saturday. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this is the job for you!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Processes and transports different types of material throughout the facility for maintenance utilization in a safe manner.
• Prioritizes orders to move materials throughout the shift.
• Inspects forklift/equipment daily.
• Requests preventative maintenance of forklift as required.
• Ensures all jobs are completed in a proficient and safe manner.
• Shows a safety first mindset; recommends improvements to make the workplace safer for self and others.
• Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges.
• Is organized and shows attention to detail, with a "get it right the first time" mindset.
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Works well with team members or independently; gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.
• Makes timely and sound decisions; uses resources wisely.
• Displays a positive, can-do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations.
• Ability to stand and sit for duration of shift, up to 8 hours.
• Ability to work with exposure to extremes in weather temperatures, chemicals, dust, mist, uneven surfaces, loud noises and elevated work areas.


Experience and Skill Requirements

• Minimum 1 year mechanical background to be familiar with production areas and the associated equipment.
• Minimum 1 year experience driving a forklift.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel.
• Knowledge of SAP software is a preferred.
• Ability to secure and transport loads safely.
• Ability to stand for duration of shift, up to 8 hours; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift.
• Must be able to frequently lift up to 25 lbs., and occasionally lift up to 25 to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in non-temperature controlled environments.
• Must speak and understand English language in verbal communication.
• Must be able to work an 8 hour shift Monday thru Friday; which may include some overtime to include four (4) hours on Saturday.
• Ability to work in extremes in weather temperatures.
• Ability to use effective listening skills to identify important information and to engage internal and external customers.

Education Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
