Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a metal sorter to support the CMC Recycling line of business. As part of the CMC team, the metal sorter oversees the process of separating various scrap materials. In addition, the metal sorter takes material from one location to another and may be involved in the process of extracting and loading the material to be transported. With an uncontrolled climate this position's working conditions include exposure to heat and cold. This is an hourly position with a work schedule of Monday-Friday 8:00AM – 5:00PM and Saturday 8:00AM-Noon, Overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Must comply with safety procedures and regulations at all times
• Sort, transport, pack, remove, and dispose of materials as regulated by law
• Assist in performing inventory on material
• Assist in unloading and loading customers
• Constantly perform a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, and kneeling
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time
• Other duties as assigned in general support of the organization

Experience and Skill Requirements

Required
• Ability to communicate in a professional manner with customers, employees, and business leaders
• Ability to work as a team player in a fast paced environment
• Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task
• Must be a quick learner; willing and able to operate heavy equipment (crane, forklift, loader etc.)


Preferred
• Forklift experience and certification desired but not required as on-site training will be provided
• 1 year experience in either operations and or manufacturing environment
• Prior knowledge of metal identification is a plus

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
