Position Overview

This position exists to safely lead the plant to achieve its goals in support of CMC Recycling regional strategies. The Operations Manager is accountable for all aspects of plant operations including: safety, environmental; staffing and development, compliance with legal and company policies and procedures; product and process quality; security, as directed by the Plant Manager.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Direct and coordinate all activities of the Plant's operations, shipping, receiving, safety, environmental, and/or any other activity or concern that may arise.
  • Control inventory dollars and tons by meeting inventory turn standards set forth by the company to include developing processing and shipping plans in support of the purchasing and sales requests developed by the Plant Manager.
  • Must be able to maintain an accurate inventory with no losses due to fraud, poor quality control, poor operational or accounting practices.
  • Leads all department personnel in a professional manner toward achieving company performance goals with emphasis on safety, quality, and meeting all company standards. 
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager to ensure successful accomplishments of plant goals.
  • Maintain and be familiar with safety and environmental concerns.

  • Leader who displays a “can do” attitude, sense of urgency and dedication to the success of the overall mission of both the Plant and overall company goals.
  • Exhibits integrity and trust as well as respect for the individual through strong moral character. 
  • Customer Service focused and collaborative as appropriate with internal and external contacts.
  • Exceptional leadership and team building skills; to include putting team goals ahead of individual goals and setting high standards for self and others. 
  • Written, oral and presentation skills critical to clearly communicate expectations, issues and feedback.
  • Must be able to problem solve in all areas of plant.
  • Must have an ability to multitask and handle stress in a highly productive environment.
  • Must be able to control budgeted labor and overtime costs; as well as, maintain fiscal responsibility for all departments’ budget.
  • Entrepreneurial attitude and able to quantitative analysis to make decisions.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Internet, E-mail, Word and Excel is vitality important.
  • Ability to manager and monitor the safety of both the individual and customers at all times.
  • Demonstrated ability to manufacture quality products that consistently meet or exceed consumer receiving specifications.
  • Broad knowledge of marketing and sales practices.
  • Familiarity with material handling equipment and how to properly maintain (Maintenance programs) and repair equipment.
  • Knowledge of transportation and logistics.

 

Education Requirements
  • B.S. Degree in business, accounting or other closely related field strongly recommended.
  • Preferred past successful experience in operations in a metal recycling facility or other related industry.
