Shop Lead - Rebar Fabrication (5301)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Rebar Fabrication Shop Supervisor to play a key role in ensuring customer fabricated steel orders are completed timely and in a manner that meets quality expectations. 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a safe working environment and exhibit a positive safety attitude
  • Operate a shearing machine to cut reinforcing steel bars to specific lengths
  • Operate a bending machine to bend reinforcing steel bars to specified shape
  • Operate overhead crane to move, assemble and select material to be fabricated or shipped
  • Assemble and load orders onto trailers for shipping
  • Unload trailers and store material in storage bins
  • Maintain the shop or designated area in a clean and safe manner
  • Supervise new employee training
  • Lead 1st shift and serve as back-up for 2nd shift
  • Coordinate and supervise material receiving, documentation, storage, inventory control, disbursement and off site shipping activities
  • Performs other tasks as assigned
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Ability to work overtime as necessary outside of normally scheduled shift with little or no advance notification required, including weekends and holidays
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Ability to work outside in the elements, including extreme heat and cold
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, push, pull, lift, kneel, squat, crawl and reach.
  • Ability to interact with co-workers and customers in a positive manner, follow directions and work rules and accept constructive feedback required.
  • Bilingual English and Spanish speaking skills strongly preferred.
  • 2 - 3 years lead experience within the construction or manufacturing industry preferred.  
Education Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
