Safety Manager (5829)

Position Overview

The Safety Manager will lead and support our Environmental Health and Safety initiatives at our Hawaii Rebar Fabrication facility and field job sites. This role will also monitor overall environmental and occupational safety and health regulations, policies and programs. This includes, but not limited to, compliance with company, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Facilitate safety training (e.g. New Employee Orientation, Heat Illness, Forklift, etc.).
  • Conduct and follow up on safety committee meetings.
  • Assist and monitor equipment inspections (man lifts, cranes, forklifts, etc.).
  • Visit field job sites to identify areas of risk and hazards.
  • Prepare job-specific safety plans to address all hazards and tasks required to meet project safety guidelines.
  • Assist, support, and advise facility management of proper reporting of incidents (near miss, property damage, first aid, OSHA recordable).
  • Assign corrective actions for identified hazards, tracking and follow up.
  • Participate in pre-job meetings and establish means and methods to meet job specific safety requirements and training.
  • Investigate incidents involving injury, equipment damage. Provide detailed descriptions of incident to include corrective actions/ injury prevention.
  • Follow up and sustain corrective action measures
  • Support initiatives, such as Proactive Safety Measures, aimed at incident rate reduction.
  • Utilize the global safety management system to document safety incidents and activities.
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Min 3-5 years’ experience as a Safety Manager, preferably in a construction environment
  • Min 1-3 years’ general environmental administration/management
  • Familiarity of OSHA regulations as they pertain to both General Industry and Construction.
  • Ability to communicate with employees, colleagues, and all levels of management in a courteous and professional manner
  • Adapt to new information, changing conditions, and or obstacles.
  • Excellent verbal, written, communication and presentation skills
  • Must possess great interpersonal skills ability to influence and change
  • Ability to prioritize and multitask responsibilities on a daily basis
  • Ability to work independently and coordinate multiple large scale projects simultaneously with minimal supervision through multi-tasking and prioritization
  • Maintain a strict level of confidentiality concerning all employee data and problems
  • Ability to listen to employee concerns and have exceptional analytical problem-solving
  • Ability to maneuver in, around, and through a fabrication shop and project site safely
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment
  • Proficient on Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Travel up to 10%
