Scale Operator - Recycling (5261)

Position Overview

CMC Tampa Recycling is currently looking for a Scale Operator. The purpose of this position is to weigh and grade incoming scrap materials on a platform scale, as well as check, grade, and tag finished product to get ready for outbound shipping. This position will interact with and direct customers and CMC forklift operators. Hours are Monday - Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. with overtime/Saturday work based on business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Identifies & weighs in-bound and out-bound metal shipments; provides quality customer service, and ensures customer specifications and contract requirements are fulfilled.
• Maintains accurate record keeping of contracts & deliveries.
• Assesses weigh materials, inbound & outbound, and directs into the appropriate process area, as well as prices tickets.
• Accurately identifies material.
• Assesses by grade an accurate weight of material orders and issues supplies for visitors and customers entering the yard.
• Interacts with customer, including ID verification or accurate documentation & ensures back-up documentation for materials sold.
• Self-manages accurate tracking and self-regulate flow of incoming customer traffic.
• Takes charge of the scale area to direct customers and CMC personnel.
• Maintains cleanliness of the work area.
• Forklift operating experience a Plus.

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Attention to detail
• Interpersonal skills
• Strong computer skills, especially Microsoft Excel
• Bilingual English-Spanish a plus
• Strong safety focus and adherence to safety policies required

Education Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required
