Position Overview

We are currently seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to join our CMC Victoria Recycling Operations. The Maintenance Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining mechanical equipment and systems to provide dependable support to plant operations. The Maintenance Mechanic will work in an accurate and efficient manner while observing CMC Safety Policies and Procedures.

This position works Monday thru Friday 7:30am – 4:30pm; which may include some overtime and Saturday work days. If you are looking for an opportunity to grow your career, this is the job for you!

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

•• Performs preventive maintenance on engines, hydraulic systems and stationary equipment.
• Troubleshoots malfunctions on equipment and repairs.
• Operates mobile equipment loaders, forklifts, trucks, material handlers and other various equipment in the plant to troubleshoot equipment.
• Complies with safety procedures and regulations at all times.
• Ensures all jobs are completed in a proficient and safe manner.
• Performs a wide range of physical activities which include pulling, reaching, bending over, climbing, and kneeling.
• Must be able to frequently lift, push, pull and carry up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time.
• Willing to learn; enjoys tackling new challenges.
• Is organized and shows attention to detail, with a "get it right the first time" mindset.
• Demonstrates dependability in attendance, work completion, and flexibility to meet business needs.
• Works well with team members or independently; gives and receives feedback in a constructive manner.
• Makes timely and sound decisions; uses resources wisely.
• Displays a positive, can-do attitude; maintains composure when faced with difficult situations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Experience and Skill Requirements

• Minimum 2 years’ experience with basic knowledge of hydraulic systems, engines, mobile equipment and vehicles.
• Ability to troubleshoot, rebuild and repair gearboxes, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
• Must be able to perform minor repairs and routine tasks efficiently, correctly and safely.
• Must comply with all plant specific rules, procedures and duties.
• Great organizational skills, with attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
• Ability to work in extremes in weather temperatures to include working in non-temperature controlled environments.
• Ability to stand for duration of shift, up to 8 hours; frequent physical activity such as walking, climbing stairs or reaching to work with equipment throughout the entire shift.
• Ability to deal with uncertainty and work with or without supervision.
• Must speak and understand English language in verbal communication.
• Must be able to work Monday thru Friday 7:30 am – 4:30pm; which may include some overtime and Saturday work days.

Education Requirements

High School Diploma or GED perferred.
