Shop Superintendent (5263)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a Shop Superintendent for our Ft. Lauderdale Rebar location to schedule, direct and complete a variety of operational and supervisory functions while managing employee relations and ensuring safe work practices of production operators, maintenance and logistics employees.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Supervises the production operators as they shear and bend rebar to customer specifications.
  • Supervises other shop employees including maintenance department directing, troubleshooting and managing maintenance and mechanical issues.
  • Manages transportation and logistics employees and ensures scheduling and dispatch of freight is to customer specifications and requirements.
  • Partners with Safety Manager to direct safety meetings and ensures ongoing safety training for all shop employees.
  • Sets production requirements based on customer needs and ensures the productive flow of material and work through the shop.
  • Partners with Regional Manager and other personnel to communicate production operations and issues.
  • Manages annual reviews and coaches and counsels shop employees with regard to employee relations issues and development opportunities.
  • Directs interview processes and coordinates training of new shop employees.
  • Ensures stock materials are received from loader and inspected for uniformity and attachment of inventory tags, SAP tags, and partial tags if bundles are open.
  • Manages and reports accurate inventory reporting.
  • Directs and ensures production reports are completed for each shift.
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • 5+ years managing a large Rebar or similar facility. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (word, excel)
  • Excellent communication skills


Education Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree preferred
