Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is hiring!  We are looking for a Source Control person at our Recycling Yard in Jacksonville, Florida..Hours are 7 am to 4 pm with some Saturday work and overtime required. The Source Control position at the Recycling Shredder is responsible for grading material, inspecting loads, organizing customer flow and keeping customers in safe area, keeping records of materials brought in, and checking for hazards in materials brought in.  This position requires a safety first attitude and adherence to strict safety rules and regulations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Grading and inspecting in-bound loads of material 
  • Communicating with customers, organizing customer flow, keeping customers safe and in proper areas
  • Making deductions in loads that have excess; including dirt, trash, plastic, etc.
  • Keeping records of incoming loads, specific materials, customers' specific materials
  • Looking for and eliminating hazards from in-coming loads prior to processing, including chemicals, flammable material and explosive items
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends when required 
Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Experience in metal sorting a plus but not required
  • Ability to distinguish between different metals and other materials for grading purposes and recognizing safety hazards
  • Good communication skills with an emphasis on customer service skills
  • Organization skills
  • Must be able to work in outdoor conditions including extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to stand for prolonged periods of time, climb stairs, balance, and lift up to 25 pounds 
  • Must value the importance of safety rules and be able to follow procedures
Education Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent preferred
