Yard Lead - Shredder (5845)

Position Overview

Commercial Metals Company is currently seeking a leadman to support the shredder department in CMC Recycling Liberty in Dallas, Texas. As part of the CMC team, the leadman will assist in supervision and training of all shredder employees. The leadman will ensure the team meets safety, quality, production, customer, and housekeeping standards. This is an hourly position with a Monday-Friday 7:30AM – 5:00PM work schedule. Saturday’s and overtime can be expected to accommodate business needs.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  • Comply with safety procedures and regulations at all times
  • Supervise and train of non-ferrous metal sorters while assisting with supervision of equipment and operator’s activities throughout the work day in the department assigned
  • Preparation of production reports required by all management
  • Communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and other personnel about production issues
  • Troubleshoot production problems and lessen equipment or plant down-time
  • Assign daily work tasks to maximize shift operations
  • Act as a liaison between management and the crew
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Experience and Skill Requirements

Required

  • 2+ years’ experience leading or supervising a team
  • Strong computer skills - MS Office, especially Excel
  • Able to execute the essential functions and responsibilities of the job with or without reasonable accommodations
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time to include frequently walking or climbing 
  • Ability to communicate with customers, employees, and business leaders
  • Ability to work as a team player under minimal supervisor in a fast paced environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs 
  • Must be able to work under any conditions such as noisy, dusty, hot, and/or cold
  • Problem Solving- work through operational issues and minimize downtime
  • Great organizational skills, with attention to detail, ability to multi-task and a quick learner
  • Able and willing to operate heavy equipment (crane, forklift, loader etc.)

Preferred

  • Bilingual – English/Spanish
  • 2 years’ experience in a recycling/manufacturing environment
Education Requirements
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience required

  • Military experience as E5 with 2 to 3 years experience in supervisory role. (ex: Maintenance, Combat Arms, or Combat Engineering Specialities)
